What Can I Expect on My First Visit to Westborough Chiropractic?
The first thing we will do is ask you about your problem. We will ask you a series of questions to help determine the nature of your illness and the best way to go about treating the problem.
A physical examination will then be performed including a thorough spinal analysis to detect any structural abnormalities which may be affecting or causing your condition. Your first visit may also include x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures.
Treatment will only commence if we feel we can help you. Treatment will consist of spinal manipulation or "adjustments". An "adjustment" is the specific manipulation of vertebrae that have abnormal alignment, movement patterns, or function. The medical term for these is "subluxation".
Particular attention will be paid to that area of your spine where a "subluxation" has been detected. We will adjust the vertebra with our hands by applying pressure to the areas of the spine that are subluxated.
Under most circumstances, adjustments are not painful. Adjustments or manipulations are extremely safe as long as they are performed by a chiropractor. There has been estimated to be less than a 1 in 5 million chance of an adverse reaction to an adjustment.
